Right, been change of plan and Im keeping my 2001 Gal-even though some b*****d reversed into me in my local Tescos garage and crunched my bumper this afternoon-will be fixed soon enough!

The condition on keepin her is the cream leather HAS to go!!

Cream Leather+Kids+Chocolate+Sticky Sweets=RIGHT MESS!!

I know one way or another I can rehome the seats/door cards-whether on here on fleabay

Door cards will easily be replaced

Mats easily replaced

CARPETS---is it easy enough to take up and replace with Black or Dark Grey? is it much hassle to do? Would help very much if Ford would release the rights to MK2 Haynes Manual!

Cream Plasticy dash---How do i get rid of that? its like a vinyl type material so original plan to sand and repaint/spray is out of the question-can i get a another type of vinyl covering to go over?

Simular sort of material around the back of the car-in "boot"...again easily covered/recoloured?

And then theres the cream cloth head lining???

Any advice gratefully recieved!!

Bare in mind I'm young(ish) female, new driver that knows very little about cars so plain simple english (even though Im welsh :P ) would be great...

Thanks in advance

I'l await some wonderful ideas :)

leather should be easier to wipe clean than fabric.... a wash with a sponge and vanish should do the other trims.

i have placed some clear polythene over the carpet in mine and that works ok. lift the plastic seat hole covers then lay the plastic and replace the covers to hold it in place.

Gregers, it is mk2...but you have competition :P

Mirez emailed me the other day when he saw i was selling the car to get rid of the leather etc

Ive promised him if i get rid of it completely then he had first refusal

My idea at mo...after trailing all 30 pages of customising....is possibly dyeing the leather black-everything-door cards, etc and then putting covers on th seats to get rid of th leather...that way if in th future i decide to sell th gal im not gonna lose money on it

But in two minds at mo coz its a heavty replacement if it dnt go nicely!

At the moment im awaiting a phone call to take th car to menders after some f-idiot reversed into me at Tescos carpark yesterday...need new bumper, new reg plate and grill!!

Until thats done im not thinking to much any further

But il keep ya both in mind

i think you really need to take some advice about staining the leather, whether its from a dealer or maybe a tack expert????

because if you make a mess of it then no 1 will want the interior or the car. ;)well not without you taking a big hit in the purse.

PURSE???? i dnt use a purse i use a wallet :o

The missus has convinced me to try the dye on the mats/carpets first seeing as they will soooo much cheaper to replace

Then maybe have a go at a door card...Maybe if i do the rest and put covers over the seats il be bit happier...Time will tell....waiting for the Autoglym to be delivered...good old fleabay...shop from the comfort of the sofa :)

Gonna have a shop arund to find best leather dye if thats the route im going to go down but one step at a time

Thanks for the replies B)
